Parley Blanks Lynx In Front of Packed House

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - Cail MacLean got a power play goal in the second period, and Davis Parley made it stand up as he got his first shutout of the year, blanking the Augusta Lynx 2-0 in front of a full house at the North Charleston Coliseum.
"I think the guys were a little jittery coming out," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "But after a while they began to play their game and started to feed off the crowd. It was another good win against a division opponent."
The first period South Carolina skated scoreless with the Augusta Lynx. In the second period, however, the Stingrays were able to get one by Lynx goalie Bobby Goepfert to take the lead. Cail MacLean got the goal, his 12th of the year, on a five on three from Travis Morin and Mike Gabinet at 8:44.
The third period featured more conservative play as neither team would score until the final few seconds. Pierre-Luc O'Brien registered his 6th goal at 19:54 from Grant McNeill on an empty net. That would push the score to 2-0, and would be the eventual final.
The winning goaltender was Davis Parley who stopped all 24 shots he faced. The losing goalie was Goepfert who stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced. The Rays went one for six on the power play while killing off all six short handed situations they faced.
There were 10,565 people in attendance, marking the highest single game attendance in Stingray history. The win made it 10 in a row for the Rays at home.
Travis Morin is the South Carolina Stingrays' representative in the All Star game on Wednesday in Stockton, CA. Morin is making his first appearance in the ECHL Chase Chevrolet All-Star game.
The South Carolina Stingrays return to action after the All-Star break and will take on the Florida Everblades in Estero, FL for a three game series starting on Friday. Game time will be at 7:30.
