Grizzlies Fall Short Of Sweep

West Valley City, Utah - The Phoenix RoadRunners defeated the Utah Grizzlies (19-17-0-3) 4-2 Saturday night at the E-Center before 5,955 fans as the Grizzlies attempted for the three-game series sweep.

Phoenix built a 2-0 first period lead and never looked back despite being outshot by Utah 48-33 in the game.

In the second, Phoenix scored two more goals to take a 4-0 lead just past the midway point of the game.

Two of the RoadRunners four goals were scored on the power-play as Utah went 0-6 on the one-man advantage.

The Grizzlies rallied with a Tyler Haskins (10) goal late in the second and a Keith Johnson (17) goal in the third but that would be it.

Nathan Lawson stopped 29 of 33 shots in the game suffering the loss.

The Grizzlies are now off for the all-star break and return to action Friday versus Las Vegas at the E-Center at 7:05 p.m.
