Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Reading, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs had their three-game win streak snapped by the Reading Royals on Saturday night with a 5-4 OT loss.

The Chiefs opened the scoring at 12:48 of the first period on the power play. Randy Rowe fed a pass in front of Reading's net, and Ryan Garlock got the first crack at it. Jonathan Quick kept Johnstown's all-star from scoring, but Codey Burki was there to pot the rebound for the 1-0 lead.

Brett Hemingway answered with a goal on a 3-on-3 rush for the Royals. Vincent Zaore deflected Larry Courville's initial pass, but it eventually made its way to Hemingway who beat Ryan Nie.

Randy Rowe got the lead back for Johnstown with a highlight reel goal on a 3-on-2 rush. Joey Olson got it started with a cross-ice pass to Garlock, who fed it back to Rowe on the right side of the slot. Rowe had to dive just to get a stick on it, and deflected it by Quick.

The second period would belong to the Chiefs as well as Desrochers and Patrick Levesque tallied to extend the lead to three. Desrochers' goal, his fifth in three games, came while the teams were skating 4-on-4 and the Chiefs on a 3-on-1 rush. He made Quick think pass by looking toward his teammates, and wristed it glove side.

Levesque also score past Quick's glove when he climbed the ladder with a wrist shot on a wraparound chance. Joey Olson got his second assist of the game on Levesque's goal while Mike Knight provided the help for Desrochers.

The Royals were able to mount a comeback in the third period with three unanswered goals from P.J. Atherton, Marc Cavosie, and Rob LaLonde to force overtime.

With Reading on a power play in overtime Cavosie was able to pot the game-winner.

Ryan Nie finished with 23 saves on 28 shots, while the Chiefs power play went 1-for-10.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Saturday January, 26 against the Dayton Bombers. That night the Chiefs will present a paper air plane toss night sponsored by Toyota.
