Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors beat the Las Vegas Wranglers, 4-3, Friday night in front of 6,771 at Rabobank Arena in downtown Bakersfield. LW Mark Derlago scored two goals for the second straight game, including the game-winner late in the third.
The Wranglers (23-7-7, 53 points) controlled the flow of the game early, and took the lead just 19 seconds into the first period with a Brandon Kaleniecki tally. D Aaron Power followed suit with a goal of his own 5:38 later, putting Las Vegas up, 2-0. Derlago got Bakersfield (11-20-7, 29 points) on the board at the 7:25 mark with his 13th of the year and fifth in the last four games. The Condors tied the game late in the stanza, as F Todd Griffith sniped the top right corner with a wrist shot to make the score 2-2.
After 18:51 of back-and-forth hockey in the second period, C Tim Konsorada broke the tie with his 21st goal of the year. Konsorada tried to hit F Sean Venedam with a pass across the slot, but it was deflected right back to Konsorada, who chipped it into the Las Vegas cage.
At 10:16 of the third period, Las Vegas D Jason Krischuk tied it up, as he wristed an unassisted goal past Condors G Michel Robinson, knotting the score at 3-3. But late in the game Derlago struck again with an unconventional goal to put Bakersfield in the lead, 4-3, with 2:06 left in the third. The rookie fired it in off Vegas G Daniel Manzato from behind the cage for the game winner. The Condors extended their unbeaten streak to four games, having gone 3-0-1 in their last four contests, with three of those games coming against first-place opponents.
Notes: Newly-acquired rookie LW Tom Boudreau made his Condors debut tonight and picked up an assist on Todd Griffith's goal. LW Mark Derlago extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with two goals tonight. He has six goals in the streak, and four in his last two games. F Sean Venedam extended his assist streak to four games, with five assists during the streak.
