P-Bruins Trim Roster by Two

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have released forwards Brett Clouthier and Jon Rheault from their Professional Tryout Agreements. With the moves, the P-Bruins have 23 players on their active roster, including 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Clouthier, 28, leaves Rhode Island after going scoreless in eight games for the P-Bruins, while collecting 17 penalty minutes. He originally joined the club on October 2 and went on to make his Providence debut on October 11 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

A ninth-year pro, Clouthier has suited up for 521 games in his career, amassing 150 points (57g, 93a) and 1,526 PIM. Along with Providence, he has enjoyed AHL time with the Albany River Rats and Binghamton Senators. Clouthier spent the last three seasons playing overseas, mostly with the Manchester Phoenix in England. The left wing and native of Ottawa, Ontario, was selected 50th overall by the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils in round two of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Rheault, 23, signed a PTO with Providence on October 13, making his P-Bruins debut that evening on the road against the Syracuse Crunch. Overall, the second-year pro went scoreless in four games for Providence. Rheault now returns to the ECHL's Ontario Reign, where he began the year with 15 points, including nine goals, in 13 games.

Rheault split his rookie season in 2008-09 between Ontario and the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. For the Reign, Rheault finished the year with 41 points (19g, 22a) in just 51 regular season games before adding eight points (4g, 4a) in seven postseason contests. In his only prior AHL experience, Rheault suited up for 24 games with the Monarchs, registering five points (2g, 3a).

Prior to turning pro, the Arlington, Texas, native enjoyed four seasons playing for the Providence College Friars. In his collegiate career, Rheault totaled 105 points (56g, 49a) in 142 games, which ranks him tied for 42nd on PC's all-time scoring list. Rheault was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers 145th overall in round five of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The P-Bruins are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Pennsylvania to take on the Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. Providence returns home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center to host the Worcester Sharks on Friday for Kids Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. The game marks the P-Bruins' final contest in Rhode Island until December 11.
