Hogs Pick Up Three Points In Week 8

The Rockford IceHogs still haven't figured out a way to beat the Texas Stars after playing them twice in Week 8, but did come out the victors in a dramatic goalie battle on Friday against the Chicago Wolves. The Hogs turn to face three North Division foes in Week 9 and will play six of their next seven games against North Division teams.

Bacon Bits:

-Four times this season the IceHogs have had a three-point scorer and Mark Cullen has done it three times

-Rockford accumulated 87 shots combined on Friday and Saturday including a season high 44 against Chicago on Friday

-Joe Fallon was docked with his second overtime loss with the IceHogs, tying Corey Crawford and Wade Flaherty for most in franchise history

-Fallon earned his first career AHL shutout on Friday against Chicago making 26 saves in the 1-0 win

-The 1-0 win was the third in Rockford's AHL era

-Including Friday's game, the home team has won 21 of 25 regular season games between the IceHogs and Wolves

-Fallon's 118:48 shutout streak that ended in the second period on Saturday was 67 seconds short of an AHL franchise high, set by Antti Niemi in 2008-09.

-Fallon successfully defended Rockford's first penalty shot against in its AHL era on Saturday and just fifth against all-time

-The last penalty shot against came on 3/10/07 when the IceHogs played in the UHL and Frederic Cloutier denied Justin Cross

-Winger Jack Skille recorded his 100th career point on Saturday

-Defenseman Simon Danis-Pepin recorded his first professional goal on Saturday

-After playing five straight against the AHL's West Division, six of Rockford's next seven games will be against the league's North Division

-Defensemen Brian Connelly and Daryl Boyle are tied for the most shots on the team with 51

Hot Hog Week 8:

Rookie defenseman Brian Connelly has a point in each of his last four games (1g-4a-5pts) including an assist (3a) in every contest this week for the IceHogs. Connelly recorded a helper in Rockford's only goal on Wednesday and then came back on Friday to factor in on the game-winner, the only goal of the game. The Colorado College product's strong play helped lead the charge in Saturday's third-period comeback to push the tilt into overtime. Connelly is tied for the team lead with 51 shots and is third on the team with 10 points (2g-8a), having yet to miss a game this season.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Nov. 25 vs. Manitoba Moose: The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Rockford IceHogs' six-game homestand comes to an end as the defending Western Conference Champion Manitoba Moose come to town. All high school and college students with a valid student ID can purchase the best available seat for just $10 at the MetroCentre's Box Office after 6 p.m. with the WXRX Student Rush program. If the IceHogs score with 9:10 left in the third period, someone in the stands will win $10,000. It's also a Guaranteed Win Night. If the Hogs don't bring home two points, everyone in the building will get a free ticket to the Dec. 2 game against the Chicago Wolves.

Friday, Nov. 27 at Grand Rapids Griffins: The game starts at 6 p.m. The IceHogs head east for their first meeting with Grand Rapids in 2009-10.  The two teams will meet eight times throughout the campaign including each of the next two Fridays.

Saturday, Nov. 28 vs. Abbotsford Heat: Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Heat close out the season series with their fourth meeting in 2009-10. The first 1,500 fans in the building will pick up a Jack Skille poster coutesy of Pepsi, FOX 39 and ESPN 1380.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK. BLACKHAWKS REASSIGN BICKELL TO ROCKFORD

Rockford, Ill.-

The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned left wing Bryan Bickell to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Bickell, 23, notched the game-winning goal on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks, his first NHL marker since the 2007-08 season. He is also +3 in four games with the Blackhawks this season. Overall, the Orono, Ontario, native has notched three goals in 13 career regular-season games with the Blackhawks over parts of three seasons (2006-07; 2007-08 and 2009-10).

Bickell has collected seven points (4g-3a) and 26 penalty minutes in 16 tilts with the IceHogs this season. He was the 41st overall (round 2) selection in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. Bickell has appeared in 179 career AHL regular season contests with the Norfolk Admirals (2006-07) and IceHogs (2007-09) since turning pro in 2006, registering 39 goals, 46 assists, 85 points and 204 penalty minutes.

Rockford, Ill.- Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight at Cousin's Bar and Grill in Rockford. The show runs from 6-7 p.m. and is hosted by Jim Stone.

Tonight President/GM Mark Bernard along with forward Rob Klinkhammer and defenseman Brian Connelly will be on hand to talk IceHogs hockey.
