Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced today that goaltender Hannu Toivonen and center Yan Stastny have been called up to the Boston Bruins, while defenseman Ryan Glenn has been released from his PTO. With these moves, in addition to the arrival of blue-liner Mark Stuart Sunday morning, the P-Bruins now have 24 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

Toivonen, 22, was assigned to Providence yesterday morning for the P-Bruins' 3-2 shootout win at the Dunkin' Donuts Center against the Worcester Sharks. The goaltender played the full game, making 27 saves in 65 minutes of action and also stopped all three shooters he faced in the shootout. Including his stint in Providence in November, Toivonen has played six games for the P-Bruins this year, amassing a 2-4-0 record and 3.05 goals-against-average. In eight games for Boston, the fourth-year native of Hattula, Finland, is 2-3-0 (two no decisions) with a 4.24 GAA.

Stastny, 24, assigned to Providence November 13, has tallied five assists in seven games of action for the P-Bruins. The forward is in his second season with the Boston organization after being acquired along with Marty Reasoner and a 2006 second round draft pick (Milan Lucic) for Sergei Samsonov on March 9, 2006. The Quebec City, Quebec, native has played in 11 games for Boston this year, recording one assist. Boston drafted Stastny in the eighth round, 259th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Glenn, 26, is in his third professional campaign following two seasons with five different AHL and ECHL teams. He leaves the P-Bruins after scoring six points (3g, 3a) in 15 games, along with a plus-four plus-minus and 27 penalty minutes. The defenseman, selected 145th overall (fifth round) by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, began his career with the Charlotte Checkers, scoring 28 points (9g, 19a) in 61 contests. The blue-liner then earned a call-up to the Hartford Wolf Pack, notching 14 PIM in 11 games. Last season, Glenn suited up for the Checkers again, along with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, Syracuse Crunch and Lowell Lock Monsters. In 60 games, the native of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, tallied 16 points (1g, 15a) and 57 PIM.

The P-Bruins get back into action next Friday, December 15 on home-ice against the Lowell Devils at the Dunkin' Donuts Center before playing host to the Albany River Rats on Saturday, December 16. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. It's Family Weekend at The Dunk, with fans able to purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for only $44. Additional tickets, hot dogs and sodas can be purchased for $11 per ticket, hot dog and soda. Providence plays its lone road game on a rare Sunday, with another battle against the Devils at 4:05 p.m. Information on tickets and Providence Bruins season ticket packages for the 2006-07 regular season can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto www.providencebruins.com.
