MONTREAL, QC - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that the club has recalled forward Maxim Lapierre from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Lapierre, 21, has accumulated 19 points (8-11-19), a plus-8 rating and 49 penalty minutes in 26 games with Hamilton so far this season. With eight goals, the 6-foot-2, 197-pound centreman is second behind only Duncan Milroy (12) for the team lead. Lapierre registered his first-career AHL hat trick on November 26th against the Milwaukee Admirals in a 6-1 Bulldogs win.

A native of St-Leonard, Quebec, Lapierre was previously recalled by Montreal on October 23rd, 2006, but didn't play before being sent back to Hamilton on October 24th, 2006. Lapierre appeared in his first and only NHL game with the Canadiens on November 15th, 2005 against the Florida Panthers at the Bell Centre.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

The Bulldogs return to action at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, December 15th when they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans at Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Fans can listen to every 'Dogs game this season on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, 820 CHAM "The Legend," beginning with the Park's Furniture Pre-Game Show 20 minutes prior to each scheduled game time.
