P-Bruins Sign Three to Tryouts

The Providence Bruins, in their 19th season in the American Hockey League, today announced that they have signed forwards Carter Camper, Jared Knight and Ryan Spooner to Amateur Tryout Agreements. All three are now eligible to make their professional debuts this weekend.

Camper, 21, is an undrafted four-year product of the Miami University (Ohio) RedHawks. The forward had a prolific offensive collegiate career, totaling 69 goals and 183 points in 156 games, while never recording fewer than 15 goals or 40 points in a single season. Camper scored a career-best 20 goals as a sophomore before setting personal-highs with 57 points and 38 assists in his senior campaign.

The Rocky River, Ohio, native and former RedHawks captain finished his career at Miami as the second-leading scorer in school history and he was the NCAA's career scoring leader over the last four seasons. Camper was one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award in 2010-11, his second time as a finalist (2009), and he was a First Team All-CCHA selection for the second time in his career.

Knight, 19, enters the pro ranks following three productive seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. The right wing registered a career-best 70 points and 45 assists in 2010-11 for London after scoring a high of 36 goals the previous season. In his three junior years, Knight scored 76 goals and added 81 assists for 157 points in 198 regular season games, along with 17 goals and 26 points in 32 postseason contests.

The native of Battle Creek, Michigan, was selected by the Boston Bruins 32nd overall in round two of the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Spooner, 19, split the 2010-11 season between the OHL's Peterborough Petes and Kingston Frontenacs, amassing and impressive 35 goals and 81 points in 64 regular season games. He added four goals and six points in five postseason contests for Kingston. In his three junior seasons, spent mostly with the Petes, Spooner compiled 84 goals and 109 assists for 193 points in 173 regular season games, along with four goals and eight points in 12 playoff outings.

The center and native of Kanata, Ontario, was selected by Boston 45th overall in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The P-Bruins' roster is now comprised of 28 players, including 17 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

Providence closes out the 2010-11 season this weekend with three games, including two at home. The P-Bruins open the weekend on Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, hosting Portland for Keychain Night at 7:05 p.m. The keychains are free to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. On Saturday, Providence plays its final road game in Springfield. Sunday, the season comes to an end as the P-Bruins welcome Manchester into town for a 4:05 p.m. puck drop. It's Stress Ball Night, with the stress balls given away to fans as they leave the building.
