Moose End Season with First Place Showdown, Fan Appreciation & Local Singing Sensation
Published on April 6, 2011 under American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The final weekend of the 2010-11 regular season brings with it major playoff implications for the Manitoba Moose as they host their North Division rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs. The last game of the season will be dedicated to Manitoba Moose fans with local singing sensation Maria Aragon and numerous giveaways on Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, April 9th.
The Moose and Bulldogs have two games remaining in their schedule and currently sit tied for first in the North Division with 93 points each. Depending on how division rivals the Lake Erie Monsters close out their season, this weekend's series between Manitoba and Hamilton at MTS Centre could decide which team finishes on top in the North Division. The last time Manitoba finished first in their division was in 2009 when they advanced to the AHL Calder Cup Finals.
The final game of the season on Saturday, April 9th is Fan Appreciation Night at MTS Centre. As part of Fan Appreciation Night, the Moose will be giving away framed 15th anniversary lithographs and a Manitoba Moose mini fridge. Fans can also take advantage of limited time discounts at Off the Rack, the official merchandise store of the Manitoba Moose. Also the Moose will conclude their season long Chuck-A-Puck contest during the second intermission on Friday, April 8th by giving away a hot tub valued at nearly $13,000 from Jacuzzi Hot Tubs of Manitoba to one lucky qualifier.
Along with fan appreciation on Saturday night, the Manitoba Moose are proud to present Winnipeg's own talented singing 10-year old Maria Aragon, who will be performing the Canadian national anthem on Saturday night prior to puck drop. Aragon first displayed her talents to the world this past February through an online video that exploded in popularity on YouTube. Since then, she has made appearances on stage with Lady Gaga in Toronto and on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Aragon was also recently visited at her Winnipeg home by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The Moose have also planned pre-game festivities on Fan Appreciation Night beginning with the annual Team Awards. The top players on the Manitoba Moose from the 2010-11 season will be honoured prior to the start of the game. Nine awards will be handed out including Most Popular Player, the Unsung Hero Award, and Most Valuable Player.
Moose fans can now get their Calder Cup playoff tickets as well as all games on April 8th & 9th versus the Hamilton Bulldogs by calling Ticketmaster at 780-3333, or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
