
P-Bruins Fall To Heat 6-2

Abbotsford, BC - The Providence Bruins fell to the Abbotsford Heat 6-2 Saturday evening at Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jordan Smotherman and Maxime Sauve. Providence returns to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Sport Bottle Night against the Charlotte Checkers.
The Heat took a 1-0 lead at the 7:53 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Stefan Meyer tallied his seventh goal of the season, with Chris Breen and Quintin Laing picking up the assists. Abbotsford made it 2-0 at the 16:07 mark. Laing netted his third goal of the season, while Cam Cunning and Ales Kotalik recorded the assists. The Heat grabbed a 3-0 advantage at the 19:59 mark, while on the power play. Meyer scored his second goal of the game and eighth goal of the season, with Laing and Kotalik getting the assists. Abbotsford led 3-0 going into the first intermission.
Abbotsford got on the board again only 20 seconds into the second period. Joe Piskula tallied his first goal of the season, while Meyer and Kotalik had the assists. The Heat continued to score, making it 5-0 at the 5:16 mark. Matt Keith netted his 18th goal of the season, with John Negrin assisting on the goal. Providence got on the board at the 5:37 mark. Matt Bartkowski sent the puck into the zone. Antoine Roussel picked it up and shot it towards the goal, where it was tipped into the net by Smotherman for his ninth goal of the season.
The P-Bruins made it 5-2 at the 10:20 mark of the third period. Bartkowski worked the puck into the zone and fed it to Zach Hamill. He put a shot on net and the puck trickled towards the goal line, before Sauve tipped it in for his 17th goal of the season. The Heat finished off the scoring at the 19:10 mark. Meyer scored his third goal of the game and ninth goal of the season, while Laing had the lone assist. The Heat went onto the 6-2 victory.
Michael Hutchinson stopped 16 of 21 shots and Nolan Schaefer stopped 15 of 16 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jean-Philippe Lamoureux made 23 saves for the Heat. The P-Bruins were 0-for-1 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
