The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled goaltender DREW MacINTYRE from the Chicago Wolves and have reassigned goaltender CHRIS CARROZZI from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators to the Wolves. In addition, Chicago has signed left wing KIP BRENNAN to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
CARROZZI made a career-high 41 saves in Gwinnett's 3-2 win at Trenton last night. He has amassed a 13-13-1 record, 3.23 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 35 games with Gwinnett during his professional debut this season.
Last season, the 20-year-old netminder was named the 2010 Ontario Hockey League Goaltender of the Year after he ranked second in the OHL with a 2.36 goals-against average and amassed a 19-10-5 record in 38 outings with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. He also shared the league lead with five shutouts and tied for fourth in the OHL with a .916 save percentage.
Overall, the Nepean, Ontario, native registered a 77-49-12 record and a 3.09 goals-against average in 156 career OHL matchups with Toronto St. Michael's and Mississauga St. Michael's, spanning four seasons (2006-10).
BRENNAN, who appeared in 48 games with the Wolves during the 2004-05 campaign, has notched 13 assists, 21 points and 146 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Central Hockey League's Allen Americans this season. His 146 penalty minutes lead Allen and rank 11th in the league.
The 30-year-old forward skated in 53 American Hockey League tilts with the Springfield Falcons last year, posting three assists. He also ranked seventh in the league with 263 penalty minutes.
Overall, the Kingston, Ontario, native has posted 25 goals, 47 points and 1,547 penalty minutes in 312 AHL games with the Lowell Lock Monsters, Manchester Monarchs, Portland Pirates, Toronto Marlies, Hershey Bears, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Springfield and Chicago.
He also has collected two points (G, A) and 222 penalty minutes over parts of six NHL seasons with the Los Angeles Kings (2001-04), Atlanta Thrashers (2003-04), Anaheim Mighty Ducks (2005-06) and New York Islanders (2007-08).
MacINTYRE kicked out 29 shots in the Chicago's 2-1 win over Milwaukee last night to earn his fifth straight win. He leads Wolves netminders with a 2.91 goals-against average and .906 save percentage in 20 outings this season (12-5-1).
The Wolves host the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena tonight at 7 p.m.
