
P-Bruins Fall to Falcons 5-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 5-2 Friday evening at the Dunkin Donut Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Matt Fraser and Craig Cunningham, while Malcolm Subban made 22 saves in net.
In the first period Providence came out aggressive taking the first seven shots of the game. Despite outshooting Springfield 15-7 in the period, the P-Bruins ended up giving up the first two goals of the game. Defensemen Tim Erixon scored the first goal, his second goal of the season, while on the power play at the 13:17 mark. Jonathan Marchessault and Patrick McNeill recorded the assists. Less than a minute later the Falcons struck again with a goal from defensemen Lukas Sedlak at the 14:03 mark, his second goal of the season. Erixon and Dalton Smith grabbed the assists. Springfield led 2-0 going into the first intermission.
In the second period the P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 11:42 mark on an interference penalty to the Falcons. Fraser scored for the Bruins, his second goal of the season, while Alexander Khokhlachev and Seth Griffith assisted him on the play. The Falcons led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
In the third period the Falcons regained their two-goal advantage. At the 3:40 mark, Jean-Francois Jacques scored his third goal of the season to make it 3-1, while Jack Skille and Michael Chaput had the assists. The Falcons scored again at the 10:55 mark of the period. Skille tallied the goal, his first of the season, while Cody Goloubef picked up the lone assist. Providence got back on the board at the 14:49 mark. Cunningham netted his second goal of the season, with Nick Johnson and Carter Camper picking up the assists. Springfield finished off the scoring with an empty net goal from Alex Aleardi at 18:34 mark, his first tally of the season. Erixon grabbed the lone assist as Springfield went onto the 5-2 victory.
Subban stopped 22 of 26 shots in net for the P-Bruins, while Jeremy Smith made 39 saves for the Falcons. Providence was 1-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins finish up this weekend's action Saturday with a trip to Manchester to take on the Monarchs at 7:00pm. Providence returns to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, October 25 at 7:05pm against the Falcons for their annual "Pink In The Rink" Night.
