MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have named defenseman Andrew Campbell the team's Captain, and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk and center Linden Vey as Alternate Captains for the 2013-14 season, Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris announced today.

"Andrew has had the good fortune of learning from previous Captains, Drew Bagnall and also Marc-Andre Cliche, who represented the organization in fine fashion, and I have every reason to believe he'll do the same," explained Morris. "I think it was important for Rob Blake and some of the members of the development team to experience what this team is starting to evolve into before we settled in on our leadership group. Andrew Campbell has invested lots of himself into this team over time. He understands the foundation of our coaching staff and what we believe in. He's a great team guy; he'll sacrifice his body and make the necessary commitments to help us be a first class organization both on and off the ice."

Campbell, 25, follows in the footsteps of Dane Jackson (2001-03), Richard Seeley (2003-04 and 2005-06), Chris Schmidt (2004-05), Brendan Buckley (2006-07), Jon Klemm (2007-08), Gabe Gauthier (2007-08), Marty Murray (2008-09), Drew Bagnall (2009-10) and Marc-Andre Cliche (2010-13) as Captain of the Monarchs.

This will be Campbell's first time wearing the honorary "C" in his jersey. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario is in his sixth season with the Monarchs and has collected 63 points (10-5363) and 306 penalty minutes in 349 games with Manchester since 2008. Campbell has served as an alternate captain for the Monarchs for the last two seasons. He is a two-time winner of the Monarchs Community Service Award (2011-12, 2012-13) and was voted by his teammates as the Mark Bavis Unsung Hero for the 2011-12 season.

"It's a big honor," replied Campbell on being named Captain of the Monarchs. "To be looked at as a leader and to represent the organization, the franchise, the coaches, players, everyone, is a pretty big honor."

Bodnarchuk, 25, is in his second season with the Monarchs. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Drumheller, Alberta collected 20 points (5-1520) and 77 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Monarchs during the 2012-13 season.

Vey, 22, is in his third season with the Monarchs and has 114 points (42-72114) and 48 penalty minutes in 152 games with Manchester. The 6-foot-, 200-pound native of Wakaw, Saskatchewan led the Monarchs with 45 assists and 67 points during the 2012-13 season.

The Monarchs finish off their five-game road trip with a 7:00 p.m. contest at the XL Center when they take on the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, October 18.
