P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 in a shootout Saturday evening. Seth Griffith and Alexander Khokhlachev scored in regulation, while Griffith and Justin Florek tallied in the shootout for the P-Bruins. Malcolm Subban made 29 saves in the victory.

The P-Bruins began the scoring at the 2:57 mark of the opening period, when Griffith scored his 12th goal of the season, while on the Power Play. Griffith scored off the rebound on a shot from Ryan Spooner. Florek picked up the second assist. The Falcons tied the game at one at the 15:10 mark, while on the power play. Ryan Craig tallied his ninth goal of the season, with Carter Camper and Jack Skille grabbing the assists. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.

Providence retook the lead at the 6:16 mark of the second period, when Khokhlachev scored his 15th goal of the season. Ben Youds fed Khokhlachev as he broke away, beating Falcons net minder Mike McKenna under his glove. Matt Lindblad had the second assist, as the P-Bruins led 2-1 going into the second intermission.

The Falcons tied the game up at the 13:14 mark of the third period. Sean Collins deflected the puck past Subban for his tenth goal of the season. Andrew Joudrey shot the puck which was deflected by Collins into the net. Will Weber recorded the second assist as the game went into overtime tied at two.

After a scoreless overtime the game went into a shootout that went eight rounds. Camper gave the Falcons the lead scoring in the second round, before Griffith tied the shootout with a goal in round four. Florek scored the game winner beating McKenna off his backhand, putting the puck top shelf and giving the P-Bruins the 3-2 shootout victory.

Subban stopped 29 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while McKenna made 27 saves for the Falcons. Providence went 1-for-3 on the Power Play and 4-for-5 on the Penalty Kill.
