Hutchinson Sensational in Shutout Win

St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - Michael Hutchinson made 42 saves and Eric O'Dell scored the only goal of the game, as the St. John's IceCaps - winning their sixth straight - shut out the Binghamton Senators 1-0 Saturday night at Mile One Centre to earn the series sweep.

Kael Mouillierat and Carl Klingberg each pitched in with an assist for the IceCaps, while Andrew Hammond made 24 saves in a losing effort for Binghamton.

O'Dell got the IceCaps on the board 11:41 into the opening frame. After Mouillierat made a heads-up play in the corner to dish the puck out in front, O'Dell made no mistake in one-timing it past Hammond to make it 1-0.

In a scoreless second period, Hutchinson made a gorgeous pad save midway through the frame to stone Corey Cowick from connecting on a one-timed blast off a cross-ice feed, preserving the IceCaps' one-goal lead.

Then, with less than 20 seconds left in the final frame, Hutchinson made two sprawling saves to rob Cole Schneider from firing home the equalizer. The IceCaps netminder made 15 stops in the third to propel St. John's to the series sweep.

The IceCaps continue their seven-game home stand next Friday (7:30 PM NT), when they take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the first in a pair of back-to-back games at Mile One Centre. Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers on Rogers TV, www.stjohnsicecaps.com and 930 AM, or watch online at www.ahllive.com. Pregame show gets underway at 7:00.
