Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forwards Tom Kuhnhackl and Anton Zlobin have been assigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kuhnhackl has recorded eight goals, two assists and 22 penalty minutes in 48 games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The 22-year old made his first appearance of the season with Wheeling on Friday, skating in the Nailers' 6-4 come-from-behind victory over the Elmira Jackals.
In 2012-13, Kuhnhackl was limited to 11 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton due to injury and registered four points (2g-2a) and 6 PIM. He also posted one goal over two contests last year for Wheeling. Originally from Landshut, Germany, Kuhnhackl was a fourth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (110th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Zlobin collected a goal and one assist last night for Wheeling to bring his season totals with the Nailers to 11 points (5g-6a) and four penalty minutes in 10 games. The 21-year old rookie has gathered five goals, five assists and 14 penalty minutes over 30 games for the Penguins.
Zlobin was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round (173rd overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft. Prior to turning pro, the Moscow-native played for three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, totaling 212 points (92g-120a) and 121 PIM in 186 games between Shawinigan and Val d'Or.
The Penguins continue their five-game road trip tomorrow afternoon in Atlantic City, where they face the Albany Devils at 5:00pm.
