Islanders Recall Nilsson, Loan Poulin to Sound Tigers

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (March 1, 2014) - The New York Islanders announced today that they have recalled goaltender Anders Nilsson from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL). Additionally, goaltender Kevin Poulin has been loaned to the Sound Tigers.
Nilsson, 23, has appeared in six games for the Islanders this season. He has a 1-2-2 record, a 3.48 GAA and an .877 save percentage. With the Sound Tigers in 2013-14, Nilsson has appeared in 29 games with a 12-14-2 record, a 2.81 GAA and .901 save percentage. Nilsson also played four games for the Islanders in 2011-12, during which time he recorded his first career NHL shutout, a 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on March 4, 2012. Nilsson was drafted by the Islanders in the third round (69th overall) in 2009.
Poulin, 23, has played parts of the last four seasons with both the Islanders and the Sound Tigers. He has appeared in 28 games for the Islanders in 2013-14 and posted a record of 11-16-1, a 3.29 GAA and .891 save percentage. Poulin began last season in Bridgeport and saw the most action of any Sound Tigers goalie, playing in 32 games. He went 15-14-3 with a 3.22 GAA and .904 save percentage. He also appeared in five games for the Islanders in 2012-13, where he went 1-3-0. Poulin was drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round (126th overall) in 2008.
