WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers fired 57 shots on goal against the Reading Royals on Friday night, but it was the visiting Royals who walked away with the two points. Dale Mitchell had two goals and two assists, while Mark Owuya made 55 saves, leading Reading past Wheeling 4-2 in front of 2,625 fans at WesBanco Arena.

The Nailers came out of the gates flying, as they outshot the Royals 17-8, while putting two goals on the board. The first goal came at the 5:55 mark of the opening stanza. Zack Torquato fired a shot on goal that was stopped by Mark Owuya, but the rebound kicked out to Patrick Johnson, who had little trouble hammering in his fifth goal of the season. A little less than five minutes later, Wheeling extended the lead. Patrick Johnson dished a pass out to Mickael Bedard, who snapped a shot into the top left corner of the goal from the inside of the right circle.

Reading picked up the lone goal of the second period, lighting the lamp with 8:21 remaining. Ray Macias gobbled up a loose puck on the left side of the net from Dale Mitchell's initial shot, and beat Patrick Killeen high over the glove. Wheeling had the shots advantage in the middle frame as well, outshooting the Royals 14-11.

The host Nailers continued to put on the pressure in the third period, firing 26 shots on Mark Owuya, raising their game total to 57. However, it was the Royals who connected for three goals, erasing the deficit for a comeback win. Dale Mitchell tied the score with 7:39 remaining, when he deflected in Ray Macias' shot from the right point. 4:38 later, Reading took the lead, as Dennis McCauley picked up the rebound of Rob Kwiet's shot, and scored on his backhand for a power play goal. With nine seconds remaining, Dale Mitchell added the insurance marker into an empty net, giving the Royals a 4-2 win.

Mark Owuya stood on his head for Reading, stopping 55 of the 57 shots he faced in the win. Patrick Killeen suffered the loss for Wheeling, despite making 27 saves on 30 shots.
