Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced that the Idaho Steelheads have signed goaltender Thomas Speer to a standard player contract.

Also, the team has placed defenseman Matt Case on the 21-Day Injured Reserve and activated forward Aaron Lewadniuk from the 7-Day Injured Reserve.

Speer, 25, was in training camp with the Steelheads in October and appeared in both of the team's pre-season games. He was credited with the win in Logan, UT, on October 8 after stopping all ten shots he faced in regulation and overtime and six of seven Utah skaters in the shootout. The Wausau, WI, product finished his college career last spring at UMass-Boston. He was the team's emergency backup during Wednesday's game against Colorado but has now been added to the team's official roster.

He will be wearing jersey no. 1 and serving as Jerry Kuhn's backup Friday night when the Steelheads host the Colorado Eagles at 7 PM at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
