Outlaws in town for showdown Friday

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets are an even .500 after 13 games and 5 weeks of the 2004-05 UHL campaign with a 6-6-1 record matching their performance after 13 games last season.

Last week the Komets earned 2 points in 3 games played. Wednesday the Komets dropped a 2-0 shutout at Flint. The Generals evened their season series against Fort Wayne at 1-1 with the win as Komet goaltender Kevin St. Pierre made 17 saves on 19 shots in his 4th regulation loss of the season.

Friday the Komets clipped the visiting Rockford IceHogs 4-3 in a shootout to even that series at 1-1. Scoring in regulation for Fort Wayne were Kevin Kotyluk, Jonathan Goodwin and Steve Rodberg. It was Goodwin's first goal of the season since joining Fort Wayne and in his first Komet start of the season netminder Tyler Masters registered the win stopping 28 of 31 shots in regulation and turning back all 4 Rockford shooters in the extra frame.

Saturday the Komets traveled to Missouri and were stopped 1-0 as the River Otters evened the series at 1-1. Masters again got the start for the Komets taking his first loss of the season while making 32 saves on 33 shots. It was Missouri's first win over the Komets in the last 10 meetings.

This week the Komets visit league leader Muskegon Wednesday. The game will start at a special time of 6:30pm for their "Career Pathways" night at L.C. Walker Arena. The Komets return home to host the Kansas City Outlaws Friday at 8pm before getting a rare Saturday-Sunday off.

Turkey's a slidin' Friday.....Friday night is the annual Scott's Turkey Slide night when the Komets host Kansas City at 8pm. During the first intermission fans will have a chance to win frozen turkeys from Scotts in the Turkey Slide contest with a grand prize package going to the winner. Also, nearly 200 Komet fans in the stands will have a chance to win free turkeys courtesy of Scott's Foods Friday night.

Marathon Night Friday.....this Friday night is the third Marathon Night of the season. Komet fans can get Fill Up cards at any participating Marathon location around the Fort Wayne area for "buy one, get one free" ticket offers good for any Friday night Komet home game this year.
