
Rockford's Olivier Proulx and Missouri's Jason Tapp earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Rockford IceHogs center Olivier Proulx has been named Sher-Wood Player of the Week and Missouri River Otters goaltender Jason Tapp has been named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 14, 2004
Proulx completed the week with nine points (4g, 5a) and a plus-seven rating in four games. He began the week by scoring a short-handed goal in Wednesday's 4-2 victory in Port Huron. On Saturday, he tallied four points (1g, 3a) including an assist on the game-winning goal in the 5-2 victory vs. Port Huron. His two goals in the final 5:12 of Sunday's game helped Rockford overcome a 3-1 deficit and earn one standings point in the shootout loss to Missouri. The 22-year-old St. Jerome, Quebec native is currently fourth on the IceHogs team with fifteen points (5g, 10a).
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack center Bruce Gardiner, Danbury forward John Morlang, Elmira center Greg Koehler, Flint right wing Rob Valicevic, Fort Wayne right wing Jonathan Goodwin, Kalamazoo center David Hukalo, Kansas City center Rob Schweyer, Missouri right wing Cole Bassett, Motor City right wing Joe Burton, Muskegon right wing Scott Hollis, Port Huron left wing David Beauregard, Quad City forward Marty Standish, and Richmond center Mark Turner.
Tapp finished the week with a 1-0-1 record, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 save percentage, and two shutouts. In Friday's goaltending duel with Kalamazoo's Chad Alban, Tapp turned away all 21 shots in regulation to earn the shutout. He also stopped three of five attempts in the shootout, however was handed the shootout loss. On Saturday, he earned his second shutout of the week by making 27 saves in Missouri's 1-0 victory vs. Fort Wayne. It was the second time this season that the 26-year-old native of Kelowna, British Columbia has recorded back-to-back shutouts. His four shutouts lead the UHL and his 1.94 GAA ranks fourth in the league.
