RiverDogs win streak hits three

The Richmond RiverDogs are now 7-4-1 after going 2-0 last week. The ‘Dogs are in a third place tie with Adirondack in the Eastern Division, one point behind second place Danbury. Richmond continues a four game home stand with a pair of games at the Coliseum this weekend.

Friday, November 19 vs. Adirondack 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The fourth of 17 meetings and the third of nine at the Coliseum. Richmond is 2-1 vs. the Frostbite, 1-0 at home. Francis Belanger has four points vs. the Frostbite. Hugo Belanger and Justin Kelly have four points vs. the ‘Dogs. Adirondack has held the ‘Dogs under 30 shots in all three meetings.

Saturday, November 20 vs. Elmira 7:35 PM GAME NOTES: The fourth of 17 meetings and the second of eight here. ‘Dogs are 1-2 vs. the Jackals, 0-1 at home. Ryan Prentice has four points vs. the Jackals. Greg Koehler has seven vs. the ‘Dogs. Elmira is 6-21 (28.6%) on the power play vs. Richmond.

Friday, November 12 vs. Motor City WIN 3-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs third lead of the game proved to be the margin of difference. Mark Turner scored the game-winning goal with just 1:45 to play. The ‘Dogs also had goals from Ryan Prentice and Jonathan Gagnon. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Mechanics 12-4 in the third period.

Saturday, November 13 vs. Danbury WIN 4-1 GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs earned their third straight win despite Danbury out-shooting Richmond by 27. Ryan McIntosh made 48 saves. David Hymovitz and Jonathan Gagnon had a goal and assist. Richmond was 7-7 on the penalty kill. Anthony DiPalma and Francis Belanger chipped in two assists each.

DOG BITES: The 'Dogs have won three straight for the second time this season. That equals a season high. Richmond is 2-0 on a four game homestand. The 'Dogs snapped an 0-26 power play slump with a power play goal Saturday vs. Danbury. The 'Dogs have killed off 14 of opponents last 15 power plays. Mark Turner has points in four straight games. David Hymovitz and Jonathan Gagnon have points in three straight games. Francis Belanger's five game scoring streak ended Friday. Ryan McIntosh has won his first four starts in net. Jeff Sanger ended a four game loosing streak Friday. The 'Dogs are 1-0 in a stretch of nine straight games vs. Eastern Division opponents. Derek Schutz came out of retirement to fill in for the 'Dogs last weekend while Trevor Senn served a two game UHL suspension. The 'Dogs are 3-1-1 in one goal games. Richmond gave up a club record 49 shots on goal Saturday night. McIntosh made a club record 48 saves. The 'Dogs have been held to under 30 shots on goal in four straight games. They had 30 or more in seven of their first eight games. Richmond has held opponents to just eight goals over the last four games. Opponents have had 14 power play chances to the 'Dogs five over the last two games. McIntosh leads the league in save percentage and is fifth in goals against average. Gagnon is tied for third in the UHL in plus/minus. Turner is tied for second in shorthanded goals. Ryan Prentice is second in shooting percentage. David Brosseau is fourth in shots on goal.
