ELMIRA, NY - The Richmond RiverDogs, led by Mike D'Alessandro's 42 saves and two point nights from John DiPace and Dan Vandermeer, defeats the Elmira Jackals by the score of 4-2. Mike Oliveira opened up the scoring with his 57th goal of the season. Jason Sessa tied the game at 1-all as the first period ended. The RiverDogs jumped to a 3-1 lead on goals from John DiPace, his 31st, and Todd Grant, his 8th goal in 18 games since the Dogs acquired the New Palastine, IN native for Jason Cassells one month ago. The Jackals cut the RiverDogs lead to 3-2, Jarrett Konkle with the goal. In the 3rd period, the Jackals tried to tie the game and send it to the shootout but Brian Goudie seals the RiverDogs victory with an empty net goal.
The RiverDogs record now stands at 38-29-6, 82 points and 9th overall in the UHL standings, two points behind Motor City, who lost 2-1 in a shootout against Kalamazoo, but still has one game in hand. The RiverDogs are four points behind 7th place Quad City and have played one less game than the Mallards. The RiverDogs continue the four game roadtrip with a Wednesday night contest against the Roanoke Valley Vipers at 7:00 pm.
