DANBURY, CT - The Adirondack Frostbite opened their four-game road trip with a 8-2 loss to the Danbury Trashers.
Danbury raced out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play. Alex Goupil and David Hymovitz tallied shorthanded goals for the Trashers, sandwiched around a penalty-shot goal for Jamie Thompson.
The Trashers added two more goals in the opening 3:45 of the second period to stretch their lead to 5-0.
The Frostbite finally got on the scoreboard at 5:47. Greg Koehler gathered in a rebound on the far post, and was able to slide a shot past Sylvain Daigle for his 19th goal of the season.
Adirondack continued to apply pressure to the Danbury net, and had three straight power-play opportunities after Koehler's goal, but the Frostbite were unable to get anything past the Trasher goaltender.
Drew Omicioli then extended Danbury's lead to 6-1 with his 46th goal of the season, taking a pass from his brother Mike, and beating Kris Tebbs with a shot from the right-wing circle.
Adirondack added a power-play goal at the 13:28 mark of the final period to make it 6-2. Mark Hurtubise took a pass from David Moccia, and beat Daigle with a quick wrist shot over the left shoulder for his 24th of the season.
The Trashers went back up by five thanks to a power-play goal from Jeff Daw at 18:31, and then set the final 25 seconds later as Shawn Collymore scored his second goal of the night.
