Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce the winners of their annual team awards for the 2005-2006 season.
The awards were presented following the K-Wings home game tonight against the Port Huron Flags at Wings Stadium.
The following were the awards and the recipients of the K-Wings Awards Ceremony, which were voted on by the fans:
Booster Club Appreciation Award: Josh Elzinga
Meijer Most Improved Player Award: Lucas Drake
Smirnoff Ice Sportsmanship Award: Mark Vilneff
Kalsee Credit Union Unsung Hero Award: Lucas Drake
Fifth Third Bank Defenseman of the Year Award: Greg Labenski
Kalamazoo Public Schools Rookie of the Year Award: Jason Deitsch
WLKM Most Popular Player Award: Tyler Willis
Kalamazoo Gazette MVP Award: Joel Martin
The KOHA Plus-Minus, Keyser Insurance Agency Leading Scorer and Otten Trophies Star of the Game Awards, which are all based on statistics, will be announce following the completion of the regular season.
Tickets for the playoffs, as well as the K-Wings' regular season finale against the Adirondack Frostbite on Wednesday, April 12th at 7 p.m. are available by calling the Wings Stadium Ticket Office at (269) 345-5101, or stopping by during regular business hours of 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday or on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can also order "E-Tickets" online through www.ticketmaster.com.
