D'Alessandro, Dogs shut out Otters 5-0

RICHMOND, VA- Mike D'Alessandro's 37 save night and second shutout this season, along with a pair of Mike Oliveira goals (53,54), powered the Richmond RiverDogs to their fifth consecutive victory before 2,333 at the Richmond Coliseum. Richmond also got two point nights from Captain Dan Vandermeer, Todd Grant, Bobby Kukulka and Brian Goudie. For Vandermeer, his two assists gave him 70, establishing a new franchise record for most assists in a season, previously held by David Brosseau, who got 68 in 2004-2005. With the victory, the RiverDogs record is now 37-27-6, 80 points and still tied for 8th overall in the standings with the Quad City Mallards, who defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 4-3 in a shootout. The RiverDogs have one game in hand on the Mallards. The RiverDogs also gained ground on 7th place Motor City, who was idle tonight. The Mechanics have 83 points and have played one more game than Richmond.

The RiverDogs are back in action on Friday, April 7th, as the team plays host to the Adirondack Frostbite for the final time this season. It will also be Trading Card Night #2. Every fan that walks through the gates will get the second installment of trading cards, courtesy of Richmondpostcards.com, Ukrops and Virginia Business Systems. The final installment of trading cards will be given away on the final home game of the regular season, Saturday, April 8th, when the Dogs take on Danbury. Tickets for those games are on sale at the Richmond Coliseum Box Office or can be charged online at www.ticketmaster.com. Saturday's game is also Uncle Julio's Rio Grande Café Night with the RiverDogs! Fans in attendance will get gift certificates when they purchase game programs and Fas mart Fling A Pucks, limited supply while they last.
