
Fifth Annual Kick-Off Classic set for Saturday

Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", will host the Fifth Annual Kick-Off Classic Synchronized Skating Competition this Saturday, November 20th at from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Teams from all over the Midwest will visit Kalamazoo for the Synchronized Skating Competition sponsored by the Southwest Michigan Skating Club and sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Highlighting this year's event will be the synchronized teams from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. The Kalamazoo Kraze will be the lone team representing the Kalamazoo area and they will be competing in the adult division.
Synchronized Team Skating is a fast growing sport with over 400 teams currently registered with the United States Figure Skating Association. The teams competing this Saturday will consist of 8 to 20 skaters performing fast, complex moves and formations that are intricately-choreographed and all in unison to music. They are judged for speed, footwork, difficulty and teamwork. This competition is a great opportunity to see the teams show off their new programs for the 2004-2005 season.
Tickets for the Kickoff Classic are only $5 and are available the day of the show.
Stadium Management Company owns both Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
