Ouellette Shuts Door on Everblades in 3-0 Solar Bears Win

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears (3-3-0-0) scored twice in the first period, while Martin Ouellette's 28 saves backstopped the team to a 3-0 shutout win over the Florida Everblades (2-3-0-0) on Friday night at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.

The Solar Bears established a lead in the first period when Mathieu Foget dug the puck out of the left corner and fed Brent Pedersen in the slot. Pedersen slid Foget's pass through the pads of Jamie Phillips for his second of the season at 6:47 to put Orlando up 1-0.

Brady Shaw extended the lead to two goals after Hunter Fejes found Brady Shaw at the right circle, allowing Shaw to skate in and beat Phillips to the blocker side at 9:16.

Both teams played through a scoreless second period, as Orlando out-shot Florida by a 10-4 margin in the middle frame, and Michael Brodzinski capped the scoring with an empty-net tally at 18:26 of the third period.

Ouellette's 28 saves gave him the 12th shutout of his pro career along with the win; Phillips took the loss with 20 saves on 22 shots against.

NOTABLES

Fejes and Nolan Valleau tied for the team lead in shots on goal with three.

Fejes now has a six-game point streak (5g-3a) to open the season and lead Orlando in overall scoring.

Brodzinski's goal extended the defenseman's point streak to three games (2g-1a).

Pedersen's goal gives the rookie forward a two-game point streak (1g-1a).

Foget now has a two-game assist streak (2a).

Etienne Boutet skated in his 100th career pro game. The defenseman logged a +1 rating with one shot on goal and two penalty minutes for Orlando.
