Otters Lose Series Opener to Frontier Greys

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters lost the series opener against the Frontier Greys 13-4 on Friday night.

Evansville will look to tie up the series on Saturday night at historic Bosse Field.

The Frontier Greys went ahead of Evansville in the top of the first inning. Lefty Rich Hawkins was on the mound for the Otters but he allowed a one-out double to outfielder Alvaro Ramirez. He moved to third on a throwing error and scored the first run of the game on a Balbino Fuenmayor sacrifice fly.

Ahead 1-0, the Greys scored another pair of runs in the second inning. Brock McCallister reached on a single and Esteban Meletiche followed with a double. Both runners would score on the single from catcher Chris Kay.

The Greys would add another run in the fourth inning for the 4-0 lead. It was the first run the Otters had allowed in the fourth inning all season long.

The Frontier Greys then added four runs in the seventh and five more runs in the eighth.

Down by double digits, Evansville would score their first run in the eighth inning on an RBI single from infielder Frank Martinez. The Otters second baseman finished the game 3-for-5 in the loss.

Evansville staged one last rally by batting around and scoring three runs in the ninth inning.

The Frontier Greys improve to 12-18 this season as Evansville is now 20-10.

The series continues on Saturday, June 22 with Heritage Federal Credit Union Night! The first 1000 fans will receive a hat giveaway and there will also be another spectacular fireworks extravaganza! Both are sponsored by Heritage Federal Credit Union. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:35 pm CDT.

Evansville will have right-handed pitcher Bryce Morrow (4-1, 2.19 ERA) on the mound against Greys right-hander Casey Delgado (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
