Orr returns to Providence; Samuelsson recalled by Boston

The Providence Bruins announced today that rookie right wing Colton Orr has been reassigned to the team by the Boston Bruins, while left wing Martin Samuelsson has been recalled by Boston. Orr made his NHL debut in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at the FleetCenter.

Orr, a 21-year-old native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has tallied 1-3-4 totals in 25 games with the P-Bruins and leads the team with 114 PIM. His penalty minute total ranks second among AHL rookies. Orr was signed by Boston as a free agent on September 19, 2001.

Samuelsson began the season with Boston, playing in three scoreless games. He has 1-4-5 totals and 11 PIM in 26 games with Providence. He tallied 24-15-39 totals in 64 games as a rookie with the P-Bruins last season, along with one assist in eight games with Boston. Samuelsson, who turns 22 later this month, was Boston's second pick, 27th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bruins conclude their three-game road trip on Saturday night at 7:35 p.m., when they visit the Springfield Falcons. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550. The Bruins return home to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, January 16 at 7:05 p.m.
