Admirals Reassign Gaucher, Release Russell from PTO
January 9, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. â The Norfolk Admirals announced today that they have reassigned defenseman Ryan Gaucher to their ECHL affiliate, the Florence Pride. Additionally, the team has released right wing Bobby Russell from his professional tryout (PTO). Russell is expected to report to Florence as well.
Gaucher's reassignment follows the Pride's acquisition of his ECHL rights yesterday. The 23-year old has been recovering from an injury sustained in training camp and has not appeared in any game this season for the Admirals. Last year, he posted 1+3=4 points, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating in 19 games with Norfolk.
Russell was originally signed to a PTO on October 7 and re-signed to a PTO on November 29. In 29 games with Norfolk this season, he netted 1+2=3 points, 14 PIM and a minus-9 rating.
The Admirals' next games are Saturday, January 10 and Sunday January 11 versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders). Saturday's match begins at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday's contest faces off at 4:00 p.m.
