Binghamton Senators News Release

Mike Brown netted a goal and two assists in his Binghamton debut to lead the Sens to a 5-4 win over Albany Friday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Brad Tapper, acquired in a Tuesday trade from the Atlanta Thrashers, scored once and set up another marker as the Sens set a team record with five, second period goals.

Denis Hamel's team-leading 15th of the year with 2:22 left in the second capped the record setting uprising and added two assists to up his season point total to 31, tops on the Senators.

After working out to a 5-1 advantage after two, the River Rats battled back with three straight goals, the final of which came with nine seconds remaining, but the comeback would fall just short.

Binghamton outshot Albany 44-16 on the night, the 16 shots a team record for fewest allowed in a game in Senator franchise history.

With the win, the Sens jumped over idle Norfolk and into fifth place in the East Division and are now just two points back of the fourth place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Binghamton hosts Philadelphia Saturday night in a 7:05 p.m. faceoff at the Arena.
