Bulldogs lose in overtime

HAMILTON, ON - Garrett Stafford scored 80 seconds into overtime to give the Cleveland Barons a 3-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum on Friday night. With the overtime loss the Bulldogs record falls to 21 wins, 14 losses, 5 ties and 2 overtime losses.

Leading the way offensively for the Bulldogs on Friday night was Alex Perezhogin, who scored one goal and one assist. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Chris Higgins and Alexander Svitov.

Stafford, Doug Murray, Yuri Moscevsky and Miroslav Zalesak scored single goals for the Barons.

Olivier Michaud made his second consecutive start for the Bulldogs and made 29 saves in the loss. Barons netminder Nolan Schaefer picked up his third win of the season as he stopped 29 of 32 Bulldogs shots.

On the power play the Bulldogs scored once on four opportunities. Cleveland failed to score on their two chances with the man-advantage.

With the loss, Hamilton's winless streak now sits at six games (0-3-2-1).

The Hamilton Bulldogs next home action will take place tomorrow afternoon Saturday, January 10, 2004 as the Bulldogs take on the Manitoba Moose at Copps Coliseum. Game time is 3:30 p.m. This will be the Bulldogs last home game for the month of January.
