Ontario Breaks 3-3 Third Period Tie; Beats Utah 7-3

Ontario, California - The Ontario Reign scored four unanswered goals to break a 3-3 third period tie and defeated the Utah Grizzlies (26-22-2-5) 7-3 Friday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena to snap the Grizzlies three-game winning streak.

Utah tied the game at three 3:25 into the third period as Peter Aston took a James Sixsmith centering attempt and buried his fifth of the year. Utah made it 3-2 with one second left to go in the second period as Sixsmith led a ferocious rush into Ontario territory in the final ten seconds that was capped off by Tom May knocking home his 18th goal of the year.

Utah trailed from the 7:47 mark of the first period until the third period tie. The Grizzlies found themselves down 2-0 before a five-on-three power-play goal from Sixsmith got Utah on the board 8:07 into the second period. Aston picked up his first point of the night on an assist.

Ontario took a 4-3 lead 2:21 after the tying Aston goal and rolled off three scores in a span of 2:53 in the final 5:09 of the game to break the contest open.

Utah and Ontario complete their series Saturday in California. Face-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Utah returns home Friday, March 12 to host Stockton at 7:05 p.m.
