Stockton Thunder News Release

LAS VEGAS - Alex Bourret scored a goal and added two assists to help the Las Vegas Wranglers snap a 2-2 tie after the first period with a three-goal second period outburst and send the Stockton Thunder (24-21-8, 56 points) to a 5-2 loss before 4,124 fans at Orleans Arena on Friday night.

The loss, capping a game that pitted Thunder head coach Matt Thomas against his former assistant and current Las Vegas head coach, Ryan Mougenel, marked the first time the Thunder had dropped three straight games in regulation since Dec. 16-19 (at Victoria).

Oren Eizenman and Matt Robinson each scored for Stockton and Josh Prudden, Jeff Hazelwood, Jerry Pollastrone and Adam Miller also chipped in with a goal for Las Vegas.

An offensive outburst headlined the first period in a 2-2 tie, as the Thunder broke the ice with an Oren Eizenman rebound goal just 38 seconds into the game, after Michael Ouzas denied J.F. Caudron's wrap-around attempt.

The Wranglers shot back with back-to-back power-play goals by Alex Bourret and Josh Prudden to take a 2-1 edge, beginning with Bourret's game-tying goal on a blast from the left point with 5:19 gone in the period and Prudden's re-direction at the doorstep on a Ned Lukacevic feed at the right circle with 9:40 left.

Robinson collected his 18th goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to ten straight games with 6:29 left in the period when he buried a backhanded rebound past Ouzas after Chris D'Alvise was denied on a snap shot off the rush.

A three-goal rally helped the Wranglers race to a 5-2 lead after the second period, starting the outburst with Jeff Hazelwood's eighth goal of the year just 1:06 into the period when he took a stopped wrist shot from the right wing and slipped a rebound through Aaron Sorochan's five-hole.

Jerry Pollastrone beat Sorochan over the glove from the right circle on a wrist shot with 7:34 elapsed for his second goal of the year to hike the lead to 4-2, netting his second goal of the year.

Adam Miller followed with a deflection in front with 8:03 left in the period, roofing the puck over Sorochan's blocker to expand the Wranglers bulge to 5-2.

Perugini replaced Sorochan at the start of the third period and the Wranglers held the three-goal pace, despite an 11-4 shots-on-goal pace fired by the Thunder.

Ouzas made 32 saves for the win.

Paired with a Bakersfield 3-2 win at Victoria, the Thunder fell seven points behind the Condors for first place in the Pacific Division.
