
Stingrays Fall in Overtime 5-4 to Everblades

Estero, FL - The South Carolina Stingrays (35-15-5-5) fell to the Florida Everblades (29-19-4-5) 5-4 overtime in front of 6,138 at Germain Arena Saturday night. Stingrays forward Keith Johnson netted two goals and an assist in the loss.
Stingrays forward Gregg Johnson kicked off the scoring at 7:49 of the first period knocking in a rebound past Everblades goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu from K. Johnson and defenseman Johann Kroll. K. Johnson made it a 2-0 Stingrays lead at 16:53 from forward Trent Campbell. Moments later K. Johnson tapped in a back-door pass from Campbell for his second goal of the game. G. Johnson earned the second assist on Johnson's 25 goal of the season.
Everblades forward Milan Gajic netted the only goal of the second period at 4:45 to cut the Stingrays lead to 3-1. Winger Ross Carlson and defenseman Ryan VanBuskirk registered assists.
The Everblades pulled within one early in the third period with a tally from forward Kevin Baker at 1:34 from Gajic. Stingrays forward Jake Hauswirth reclaimed a two-goal lead on the power play at 4:06 from defensemen Dylan Yeo and Kroll. Everblades' Baker responded with his second of the night at 4:42 from Carlson and Gajic. Florida forward Earnie Hartlieb tied the game at four at 11:46 from Gajic and defenseman Phil Paquet. In overtime, Baker completed the hat trick on the power play beating Stingrays goaltender Shane Connelly high glove-side for the game-winning goal. Connelly finished the night stopping 23 of 28 Everblades shots. Beckford-Tseu earned the win kicking away 28 of 32 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-5 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-4.
