NORFOLK, VA - The Monarchs broke a 2-2 tie with two goals in the third period, lifting them to a 4-2 victory over Norfolk on Saturday night. The win gave Manchester a split of the two-game weekend set against the Admirals.

Brian O'Neill picked up the game winning goal at 10:03 in the third period, his second score of the season.

The David Van der Gulik, Nic Dowd and Scott Sabourin line scored the game's first two goals after starting the game as the top unit. That line combined for five points (2 goals, 3 assists) on the night.

Manchester lost a 2-0 lead after the first period when Norfolk scored back-to-back goals late in the second period and early in the third.

Van der Gulik made it 1-0 at 5:46 in the first period with a one-timer from the slot on a pass from Sabourin. It was his second goal in as many nights, with both goals giving Manchester a 1-0 lead.

Sabourin took a pass from Dowd right on the doorstep of the Norfolk goal and buried it to give Manchester a 2-0 lead at 12:09 in the first.

At 14:30 in the middle period, Brad Winchester took a feed right in front of Bartosak and slipped it past him to cut Manchester's lead to 2-1.

Antoine Laganiere scored the game-tying goal on a wrist shot at 5:55 in the third period. The tally came on a power play after the Monarchs took a penalty for too many men on the ice.

O'Neill weaved through the offensive zone, cut in front of the net and ripped a wrist shot past Gibson for the go-ahead tally.

Jordan Weal made it 4-2 off a faceoff in the offensive zone right after Norfolk took a delay of game penalty. Weal pushed the puck drop straight towards the Norfolk goal and it deflected off a defender's skate and in.
