Oklahoma City Barons News Release

The San Antonio Rampage netted two goals in the third period to erase an early three-goal deficit and defeat the Oklahoma City Barons, 5-4, Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.

Jason Williams opened scoring early in the first period on a play that required an official review. At the 2:26 mark, Williams received a pass from Andrew Miller near the top of the right circle and blasted a slap shot past San Antonio goaltender Michael Houser. Officials didn't initially signal the goal, but replay later indicated Williams' shot indeed went into the Rampage net.

In the second period, Williams picked up where he'd left off in the first, netting his second goal at the 6:40 mark of the frame. With the Barons benefiting from a 4-on-3 advantage on penalties to San Antonio's Shane O'Brien and Brett Olson and Oklahoma City's Tyler Pitlick, Anton Lander sent a pass to Williams near the high slot, where Williams fired a one-timer past Houser for a 2-0 Barons advantage.

Just 13 seconds later, with the teams playing at 4-on-4, Oscar Klefbom extended the Oklahoma City lead to 3-0 when he received a Jordan Oesterle pass near the point and fired a slap shot over the glove of houser.

San Antonio mounted a comeback just beyond the halfway mark of the second period. After a penalty to O'Brien expired at the 8:44 mark, the San Antonio forward took a pass near center ice while rushing out of the penalty box and beat Oklahoma City goalie Laurent Brossoit to cut the Barons' lead to 3-1 at 8:47.

The Rampage's Vincent Trocheck put San Antonio within a goal at the 9:05 mark when he received a Bobby Butler pass of a faceoff and skated past Barons defenders before backhanding a shot through the legs of Brossoit, making the score 3-2.

The Barons later in the third when Iiro Pakarinen skated into the San Antonio zone on an odd-man rush and fired a shot just outside the reach of Houser, extending Oklahoma City's lead to 4-2 at 13:49 of the second.

But with 1.1 seconds remaining in the third, San Antonio once again made it a one-goal game when Connor Brickley pushed the puck past Brossoit during a scrum in front of the Barons net.

Ryan Martindale tied the game for the Rampage at the 5:24 mark of the third period, receiving a Drew Shore pass from the point and glided the puck past an outstretched Brossoit. The goal came on the power play with the Barons' Williams serving a hooking penalty assessed at 5:19.

McFarland netted the game-winner at 15:36 to give the Rampage the 5-4 win.

The Barons return to action next Friday, October 24, at 7 p.m. CT against the San Antonio Rampage. Friday Night is Barons Night featuring $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs. Friday is also College Night.
