Six goals over the final two periods propelled the Chicago Wolves (3-0-1-0) to a 7-2 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters (1-3-0-0) Saturday night at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Dennis Everberg scored his first American Hockey League goal for the Monsters, while Stefan Elliott also added his first goal of the season. The loss was the third straight for the Monsters, who continue their five-game road swing Friday night in Grand Rapids at 7:00 p.m.

Just as they did Friday, Chicago took a 1-0 lead into the dressing room after the first period. Chicago's Dmitrij Jaskin banged home a loose puck from in front of the Monsters net at 11:48 of the opening period to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored on a power play.

Shane Harper netted another power play goal for Chicago, making the score 2-0, on a deflection at 3:54 of the second period. The Wolves netted a pair of even strength goals to continue their second period scoring, as Ty Rattie scored on a picture-perfect two-on-one setup from Jaskin at 6:00 of the middle frame, and Rob Bordson scored on a wrist shot from the right circle at 10:44 of the second period. With Chicago leading 4-0, Dennis Everberg put the Monsters on the board when he turned a bouncing puck past Wolves goalie Matt Climie at 12:02 of the second period, with assists to Max Noreau and Borna Rendulic.

Stefan Elliott cut the Chicago lead to 4-2 with a shot from the right point on the power play at 5:57 of the third period; a goal that was assisted by Mike Sgarbossa and Michael Schumacher. Chicago answered the Monsters pair of goals with three of their own over the final 11:54 of the game, beginning with an even strength goal from Pat Cannone at 8:06 of the third period that gave Chicago a 5-2 lead. Colin Fraser scored a shorthanded goal at 13:26 of the third, and Yannick Veilleux scored a power play goal at 16:47 of the third period to extend the Wolves lead to 7-2.

Roman Will fell to 0-2-0 with the loss; he stopped 20 of 27 shots. Climie stopped 20 of 22 shots to improve to 3-0-0 on the young season for Chicago.

The Monsters continue their five-game road swing Friday night in Grand Rapids. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and can be heard live on AM 1420 "˜The Answer'.
