
Admirals Defeat Wild 4-O

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Wild (0-4-0-0, 0 points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (4-0-0-0, 8 points) 4-0 in front of 6,791 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday night. Admirals forward Viktor Arvidsson registered a hat trick and goalie Marek Mazanec (4-0-0) did the rest with 29 saves. Forward Austin Watson and defenseman Garrett Noonan each had two assists, as the Admirals won their fourth straight. Wild goalie Johan Gustafsson (0-3-0) stopped 20 shots in the defeat. Iowa hosts Charlotte at 7 p.m. this coming Friday and Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Admirals jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:03 into the opening period. Forward Joe Pendenza gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead, potting a rebound off a Zach Budish shot. Defenseman Taylor Aronson also assisted Pendenza's second goal of the season. The Admirals widened their lead at the 17:21 mark of the period with a power-play goal from forward Viktor Arvidsson. The one timer was set up by forward Austin Watson and defenseman Garrett Noonan for the 2-0 lead.
Arvidsson increased the Admirals' lead and picked up a hat trick with two goals in the first six minutes of the second period. His second goal of the game came at 2:48 and was aided by Noonan for the 3-0 lead. Arvidsson's third goal of the night, and fourth of the season, was a power-play goal and came at 5:42. Defenseman Anthony Bitetto and Watson assisted the goal for the 4-0 lead.
The Wild continues a four-game home stand by welcoming Charlotte Checkers for a two-game set at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday Oct. 25. Friday the 24th is College Night, featuring $2 beers, presented by the 100.3 The Bus. Saturday night is Youth Sports Night, where the first 1,500 youths (12 and under) receives a White Iowa Wild home jersey, compliments of NASH FM.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
