Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAST NIGHT'S WIN: John Lamb posted the longest scoreless outing for an Omaha pitcher this season (and retired the final 17 batters he faced) as he went 7.0 innings of one-hit ball as part of Omaha's first ever one-hitter at Werner Park (second in the history of the park, as Oklahoma City one-hit Omaha back on May 5 of this season). The last time Omaha one-hit a team was July 18, 2011 at Memphis, when Luis Mendoza tossed a one-hit shutout.

TAKE A BAU-MANN: Buddy Baumann has allowed only two earned runs in his 15.0 innings as a starter in four starts (1.20 ERA). Among PCL pitchers with more than 50.0 innings this season, Baumann's 1.52 ERA is the second lowest in the league trailing only Nashville's Jimmy Nelson at 1.46 ERA. Baumann has the most innings in all of Triple-A without a home run allowed at 59.1 innings. Tonight will be his 34th appearance for Omaha, tied for the team lead.

HIT MERRIFIELD: Whit Merrifield joined the Storm Chasers on June 7, and in that span he leads the PCL in hits with 70 in his 46 games (and 72 hits counting his two hits in the July 12 suspended game at Colorado Springs). Merrifield's .365 average (70-for-192) is third best in the league since he joined the PCL, trailing only Las Vegas' Matt den Dekker at .399 and Memphis' Tommy Pham at .369. Merrifield has 20 multi-hit games in 44 games for Omaha with an at-bat.

TIGHT SERIES: Omaha evened the season series with Memphis with their win last night at 7-7, and in the last four years dating back to the 2011 season the Storm Chasers hold a slight 31-30 edge between the two teams (2013: 7-9, 2012: 8-8, 2011: 9-6). In the four seasons at Werner Park, the two teams hold a 14-14 record (2014: 3-3, 2013: 2-6, 2012: 4-4. 2011: 6-2).

TO ALL FIELDS: Matt Fields leads the PCL with 48 extra-base hits (team-leading 25 doubles which ranks tied for sixth most in the league, one triple and 21 homers which ranks tied for 4th most in the PCL). The 48 extra-base hits are one shy of his career high (which he set last year with 49 for NW Arkansas), while his 25 doubles is tied for a career high (set in 2008 with Vero Beach).

ORLANDO MAGIC: Paulo Orlando has three hits in the series (had four hits in previous nine games) and is one of four PCL players with a .300 or better average and 350+ at-bats: Andy Marte of Reno at .330, Shane Peterson of Sacramento at .318 and Mark Canha of New Orleans at .317). Orlando's career best average for a MiLB season was .305 (128-for-419) in 2010 with NW Arkansas.

CHECK THE RECORD: Johnny Giavotella drove in two runs last night, but still sits one run scored shy of 10th most all-time in Omaha history at 223 (Joe Vitiello, 1994-99, sits at 224 runs).

SOUTH VS SOUTHPAWS: Omaha is 6-10 vs left-handers at Werner Park this season.
