
RedHawks Can't Complete Three-Peat

Round Rock, Texas - The Round Rock Express fell into an early two-run hole but ended up scoring the game's final eight runs as the Express upended the RedHawks, 8-2, Thursday night at Dell Diamond.
For the third straight time in the series, the RedHawks (56-58) scored first. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Domingo Santana lined a two-run double to left-center field.
The Express (57-54) took its first lead of the series after putting up four runs in the second inning. Carlos Pena led off the inning with a solo home run get Round Rock on the board.
Josh Wilson tied the game with a sac fly, and Luis Sardinas put the Express in front with a RBI double. Michael Choice followed with a RBI single to make it 4-2.
The RedHawks had a chance to respond in the third inning, loading the bases with one out. Round Rock pitcher Edwar Cabera was able to get out of the jam by striking out Santana and getting Preston Tucker to pop out.
Round Rock added two more runs in the fourth inning. Wilson hit his second sac fly of the game, and Sardinas drove in another run with a two-out RBI single, putting the Express in front, 6-2.
The Express also scored in the seventh and eighth innings, including a RBI triple by Brent Lillibridge.
After being held scoreless in the first inning, the Express scored eight runs on 12 hits over the final seven frames. Sardinas finished 3-for-5 and fell a home run shy the cycle. Brett Nicholas delivered three hits as well for the Express.
On the other hand, the RedHawks were held scoreless after the first. Following the third inning, they put just one runner in scoring position and did not have a runner advance as far as third base.
Joe Sclafani led the RedHawks with three hits.
Cabrera (1-1) turned in a quality start picked up his first win in Round Rock uniform. After the bumpy first inning, Cabrera kept the RedHawks scoreless over his final five innings. The lefty allowed eight hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Coming off a good outing against the Express last week in Okahoma City, RedHawks starting pitcher Alex White struggled in the rematch. White (1-4) could not make it out of the second inning after throwing 39 pitches in the frame. Over 1.2 innings, White allowed four runs and six hits with no walks or strikeouts.
With the loss, the RedHawks missed their chance to win three straight games for the first time since June 15-17. They also have yet to win the first three games of a series since April 7-9 in New Orleans.
