PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (9-11) collect just five hits in loss to the Toledo Mud Hens (9-10) Wednesday night.
In the first inning Jackson Kowar (Loss, 0-2) gave up a 3-run shot to Josh Lester which brought the score to 3-0.
In the fourth, Kowar gave up a lead off double to Josh Lester, he was then scored in off an RBI single by Ryan Lavarnway. With two-outs Jackson Kowar gave up three straight singles and then Zack Short hit a grand-slam to clear the bases to bring the Mud Hens lead to 8-0.
Alex Faedo (Win, 1-0) cruised through five innings in his Triple-A debut, as he had given up just four hits, with half of those coming off JaCoby Jones's bat.
The Mud Hens score again in the sixth, with bases loaded, Short hit a sac-fly to give him his fifth RBI of the night and to bring the score to 9-0.
The Mud Hens would hit three home runs in the eighth off right-hander Colten Brewer. Zack Short hit his second home run of the night, this time a two-run shot and brought his RBI total on the night to seven. The next batter Kody Clemens then also hit a home run off Brewer to bring the Mudhens lead to 12-0. Before the inning was completed, Jacob Robson would hit a two-run shot to grow Toledo's lead, to 14-0.
Angelo Castellano got the ninth inning and only gave up one hit, his ERA is 0.00.
The Storm Chasers continue their series against the Mudhens on Thursday at Werner Park when left-hander Marcelo Martinez (1-1, 7.30) faces left-hander Joey Wentz (0-0, 5.73). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
