Brandon McCarthy pitched seven shutout innings for Oklahoma, striking out seven along the way. Joaquin Arias paced the RedHawks with two hits and two runs batted in. Eight of the nine batters in Oklahoma's lineup had hits, including doubles by Arias and Nate Gold.

WINNER WINNER: Brandon McCarthy earned the win in last night's RedHawks victory, his first win since July 31, 2007. The 25 year-old pitched six and a third at Cleveland, allowed a run on four hits, and notched the victory in Texas' 3-1 win. McCarthy went 0-3 in his last five starts in 2007 and began this year on the Rangers disabled list with severe inflammation in his right forearm.

13 STRAIGHT:

Ryan Roberts extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the fifth last night. Roberts current run surpasses Jason Ellison and Nate Gold's 12 game streak as the third longest by any RedHawk this season, one shy of Chris Davis' 14 game streak in June and two behind Nelson Cruz and Taylor Teagarden's season-high 15 game streaks.

MENDOZA ENTERS ROTATION:

Texas optioned Luis Mendoza to the RedHawks on Friday when Kevin Millwood was activated from the disabled list. Mendoza was recalled for his second stint with Texas on June 20 and went 3-4 with a 7.86 earned run average for the Rangers over 11 games, including eight starts. Overall this season, the right-hander has a 3-6 record for Texas with an ERA of 8.16.

HUNTER BACK WITH REDHAWKS:

Texas optioned Tommy Hunter to Oklahoma Saturday when they recalled Kameron Loe. Hunter went 0-2 with a 16.36 ERA over three starts for the Rangers after having his contract purchased on August 1. The right-hander has pitched at all four levels of baseball this season and has a composite record of 11-10 with a 4.47 ERA over 155 innings.

ROUND THREE IN "08:

Oklahoma will face off against Brandon Duckworth for the third time this season. The RedHawks have tallied five runs off Duckworth, four earned, over 12.1 innings. Duckworth is 0-2 against Oklahoma this season and holds a 2.93 earned run average this year, and is 0-4 in four starts against the RedHawks in his career with a 3.52 ERA.

OMAHA AT A GLANCE:

Losses in the first two games of this series have dropped the Royals to 4-13 during the month of August. Omaha is also just one loss shy of losing their 12th straight series... The Royals are tied with Fresno for the league's second best fielding percentage (.981), trailing only Memphis (.982). Omaha's 90 errors are the second fewest in the league.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

Oklahoma's magic number is 7... Oklahoma placed Michael Ballard on this disabled list prior to today's game... Oklahoma improved to 20-13 against left-handed starters this season, including 4-1 in the last five games, all against southpaw starters... The RedHawks are 11-8 in Monday contests this season, are 15-15 in day games, and hold a 4-3 record in Monday games played during the day.
