Pacific Coast League Names Players Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Pacific Coast League today announced Colorado Springs infielder Joe Koshansky has been named PCL Hitter of the week and Oklahoma Redhawks pitcher Brandon McCarthy has been named PCL Pitcher of the week for the week of August 11-17th.

The highlight of the week for Koshansky was on August 12th against Tucson when he hit for the cycle for the second time this season. In the 21-5 victory over the Sidewinders, Koshansky went 4-for-5 with five runs scored and three RBI. On the week he finished 12-for-18 (.611) with four home runs, twelve runs scored, and 15 RBI. The Virginia native is currently leading the PCL with 110 RBI and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the sixth round of the 2004 draft.

Brandon McCarthy tossed two gems for the Redhawks last week. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native tossed six shutout innings and allowed one hit and struck out four batters against Nashville on August 12th. He followed that with seven shutout innings against Omaha on August 17th with three hits allowed and seven strikeouts to get the victory. McCarthy was acquired by the Texas Rangers in a five player trade in 2006 from the Chicago White Sox.
