Oilers Score Late, to Earn a 3-2 Win

Allen Texas - The Allen Americans battled back in the third period to tie the game at 2-2, however the Tulsa Oilers would score late on Jake Obermeyer's 4th goal of the season to give Tulsa a split in the weekend series, and a 3-2 victory on Sunday in Allen.

The Oilers got on the board late in the opening frame when, T.J. Caig found the back of the net for his 6th goal of the season at the 19:43 mark of the first period. Adam Pleskach and Matt Larke picked up the assists, as the Oilers held a slight 12-9 advantage in shots after one period.

Tulsa would cash in again in the second period on Drew Fishers 2nd of the season, a power play goal, to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead at 11:29 of the period. The Americans had their chances, but Oilers goalie Kevin Carr continued to slam the door making save after save, and Allen would head to the third down by two goals.

The Americans finally got on the board in the final period when Tyler Ludwig went top shelf from the right wing side to cut the Tulsa lead to 2-1. The Americans would answer again at the 17:47 mark when Jamie Schaafsma slammed one home from in front of the net, his second goal in as many games, to even the score at 2-2, however the Oilers weren't done. One minute and seven seconds later, Jake Obermeyer fired one home from the left wing boards to give Tulsa back the lead for good. Despite being outshot by the Americans 32-29, the Oilers would earn the victory and earn a weekend split in Allen.

The Allen Americans hit the road for two games next weekend in Missouri and Wichita next Friday and Saturday night. Allen returns home a week from today against the Rapid City Rush at 4:05 pm . Tickets for all home games are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or call (972) 912-1000.
