INDIANAPOLIS - A 6'1", 185 lb. right-handed shooting forward and native of Westlake, Ohio, Kyle Gibbons was signed to a standard ECHL player contract by the Indy Fuel, the team announced Sunday. Following a four-year collegiate career at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, Gibbons made his professional debut at the end of the 2013-14 season with ten ECHL appearances for the Toledo Walleye and spent time earlier this season on the Idaho Steelheads' training camp roster. Gibbons will wear number ten for the Fuel.
"We're excited to add Kyle to the mix in our forward group," said Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman on Sunday. "He's got the ability to score goals and will provide us with some flexibility and depth up front."
In 152 career NCAA appearances for Canisius from 2010-14, Gibbons tallied 57 goals and 130 total points to wrap his college career as the fourth-leading scorer in Golden Griffins program history. Prior to his collegiate career, Gibbons tallied 14 goals and 29 points in 56 games played in the junior ranks for the USHL's Lincoln Stars during the 2009-10 season.
In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and AHL's Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL. Season ticket packages for the Fuel's inaugural campaign are available now starting at just under $12 per game!
