Edmonton, Alta. - The Edmonton Oil Kings announced today that they have acquired 2004-born forward Rylen Roersma from the Brandon Wheat Kings, in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
"We are excited to have acquired Rylen and look forward to him joining our Club," said President and General Manager Kirt Hill. "Rylen is a player who will bring elite speed and a scoring touch to our group of forwards. As a former 1st round selection and having spent the past 4 seasons in the WHL his experience and leadership are important aspects he will bring to our group. We look forward to getting him into our lineup this weekend for our home opener."
Roersma (5'11"/186lbs), out of Lethbridge, Alta., was the 16th overall selection in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, and has played the past four-plus seasons with the Wheat Kings. Roersma is coming off a career-best season in 2023/2024 where he scored 20 goals and added 38 assists for 58 points, finishing second on the team in scoring while also serving as an Assistant Captain. This season, Roersma scored in his lone game of action so far.

The 20-year-old has also played in 10 playoff games with the Wheat Kings, scoring three times and adding two assists for five points.
Roersma was also previously teammates with current Oil King John Szabo for the 2020/2021 season with the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA club.
