The Situation
The Grizzlies return to action this weekend after taking two of three games from the Pacific Division leading Ontario Reign this past weekend. Utah handed the Reign their first regulation loss of the year Saturday in a 2-0 win and came from behind in the third period to beat the Reign 3-2 in a shootout Monday evening.
At Home
The Grizzlies are 3-1-1-1 on home ice through six games and have played before two crowds of more than 7,700 so far this year with an average of 5,160 fans per game.
Close Games At Home
Five-straight games at Maverik Center have been tied in the third period and three of Utah's six home games have gone past regulation.
The Goaltending
Grizzlies goaltending, which has been stellar so far this season, is coming off of another solid weekend, where Igor Bobkov and Aaron Dell combined to allow four goals in three games and stopped 74 of 78 shots for a .948 save percentage and a 1.29 goals-against-average. Dell anchored Utah's first shutout of the year Saturday as he stopped all 24 Ontario shots in a 2-0 win in his Maverik Center debut.
Getting The First Goal
The Grizzlies have been strong out of the gates this year and have outshot the opposition 107-68 in the first period. Utah is 3-0-0-1 this year when scoring the game's first goal and they've scored first in four of six games at home so far this season. Rylan Galiardi has scored Utah's first goal in two-straight games.
The New Guys
Rylan Galiardi (two goals), Mathieu Aubin (two assists) and Michael Pelech (one assist) combined for five points Saturday and Monday after being acquired earlier in the week by the team in an effort to add more depth and scoring to the roster.
Ducks D-Man Recalled
Stefan Warg, who had two assists in three games over the weekend, was recalled by Anaheim and assigned to their AHL affiliate in Norfolk after an impactful weekend with the Grizzlies.
The Penalty-Kill
Utah went 27 for their first 27 this year on the penalty kill at home before Ontario scored a five-on-three goal to tie the game in the second period Monday. Utah regrouped to keep the game tied and is now 31 for 32 on the PK at home.
Tacking On Points
Kris Hogg, in his first ECHL season, has two goals and one assist for three points in his last four home games.
Next Weekend
Saturday is Angel's Hands Night. The Grizzlies will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off live after the game with all proceeds going to the Angel's Hands Foundation.
Monday, November 18 is another Maverik Monday. Get six tickets for $30 with a receipt from Maverik.
